Say What?

So, a lot of people, swept by mass consumerist trendism, like iPods. Others like them just because. I don't like them. Most iPod owners will say that they sound great, and that the earphones aren't bad at all.

Well, okay.

My rebuttal is to ask them if they've tried other music players, and other head/earphones. Most of them haven't.

That's all good, though, if you're happy with your iPod, then who am I to try to make you think otherwise, right? Well, I don't know. If I could convince people that they're paying good money for something that doesn't perform as good as it should for the price, and that they could get better for the same price, then shouldn't I try?

I'll leave aside the iPod and iPhone. But the earphones they give you. Throw them away. Too many people like them for the "trendy" aspect. Some even go as far as buy new replacements after losing/breaking their original pair. I guess that can't be helped, but I think you should ask yourself if you have an iPod for looks or for music.

If it's for music, then try other earphones. In-Ear models are superb low-profile and noise-insulated earphones. Take a look around the net, and you'll get opinions on some well-regarded earphones. Just try it, you'll be blown away.

And to end this rant:

ah yes...the iRiver...i was supposed to get one of those while i was school because my Sound prof was had one....i'm indifferent about my iPod Classic. hey, as long as it plays my music, i'm cool. it's the headphones that complete the experience....the bigger the better!

I agree with the headphones being bigger. And you're also the only person I know who uses WESC. I'm really curious about that.

Really? My brother does...a whole bunch of us from PAMANA wear them. You can get them at Off the Hook, Urban Outfitters or Simons. There are so sick ones made by Dr. Dre. $400 at Future Shop. Sooooo tempting!

Purply - Beats by Dr Dre? I thought those were made by Monster. But they do sound pretty good.

I love my JVC in-ear earbuds. They are made of win and comfort. Quality is pretty solid, though my old Panasonics were actually better in terms of frequency output.

I have my creative from... some... long time ago. Works fabulously.

My cousin got me an iPod Nano. I watch videos on it. With it's tiiiny screen. (And use MY headphones.)

Anonymous - That's incredibly coincidental. I've had JVC and Panasonic in-ear buds as well. I'm going to laugh if you had the same ones. The Panasonic were these "ultra bass" ones, with freq down to 8Hz (so they say). Kinda shiny deep purple in color.

And my JVC were HA-FX66. They're amazing.

I now use full-sized Sony MDR-7506. Pretty awesome.

My Panasonics died. :( But they were in-ear noise cancelling ones and were white. But they were bass-y, yes, and from what I recall, went down to 8Hz as well.

My JVCs are... also white and have comfortable squishy in-ear buds + the actual cushion... thing. I'm tired. My vocabulary is poo. Anyway, the JVCs go down to 10Hz, or so it says.

I have actual headphones by AudioTechnica which are epic win. I don't remember the specs, so to speak, but AT is one of the more renowned companies and all in Japan. Win!

I haven't used an iPod since 2007 ( or any other PMP) but until that day, nothing had really come close in terms of user interface. Maybe that's changed now.

As for the buds, I agree on all points.

Same difference =)

they are beautiful.

Purply - Yeah, I've given them a listen once. Was pretty impressed.

And they are undoubtedly sexy.

Munim! - Good to hear from you. Are you saying you've succumbed to iPods?
I remember you had full-sized cans. What were they?

Hehe, I did succumb to the iPod. At the time I needed the capacity and a suitable substitute ( Cowon X5) wasn't readily available. It replaced my broken iRiver H320 and I have to admit, the menu was worlds better, it made listening to music that much easier.

I still have my Grado SR60s but they're regulated for home use as they should be, hehe. Whoa, I just realized that I've had them for 3 years now..

i bought creative zen as my first mp3 cause i'm a singaporean and i thought i shld support a singapore brand.
the first set i bought, it couldn't even be turned on. so i went back to exchange it and then that set died on me in less than a year.
so i got a ipod. i've only got it for a week so i can't really judge.

as for creative, i still don't believe they are that bad. i believe that maybe i'm just a bad owner or that i'm down in luck. others have tried creative and i dare say it's pretty user-friendly! :> i enjoyed my 10months with it hahaha.
